SYNOPSIS:
The chance of showers has decreased as instability associated with a tropical wave moves west of the area, and a plume of dry Saharan dust intrudes across the northwestern Caribbean. Today, expect partly cloudy skies, becoming hazy. A Dust Alert Is in effect. Exercise caution for a reduction in visibility and air quality. Moderate, easterly trades with rough seas are anticipated due to a tight pressure gradient. A Small Craft Alert is in effect and will be downgraded to a small craft advisory on Sunday. In addition, warm and humid conditions will continue.

Today: Partly cloudy and hazy with a 20% chance of showers. A Dust Alert is in effect. Temperatures will rise near the low to mid 90’s °F, with a heat index of 109 °F. Winds will be easterly at 10 to 15 knots with higher gusts. Seas will be rough with wave heights of 6 to 8 feet. A Small Craft Alert is in in effect*.

*A Small Craft Alert will be in effect for the Cayman Area. Small craft should exercise caution over open waters, especially along the southern and eastern coasts. Within the reef and sheltered areas, conditions are / maybe generally less severe / less than open waters, but operators should continue to exercise discretion as localized choppy conditions may still develop.
