Today's Forecast

Synopsis

Saharan dust that has lingered across the northwest Caribbean will continue to migrate out of the region this morning with an induced trough beginning to move through the Windward channel this afternoon. As a result of this, convergence through the channel alongside a slight uptick of moisture and decrease in winds will bring a slightly higher chance for shower activity today. From later this afternoon, an upper-level low northeast of the Sister Islands also begins migrating west and move across the Cayman area, increasing chances once more. The Dust Alert has been discontinued. Radar imagery shows a few showers beginning to develop near the Cayman area moving towards the west-southwest.

Outlook

is for a tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean to drift across the western Caribbean on Monday evening. As for the aforementioned upper-level low, this is expected to continue moving north and west through Monday towards the Yucatan which will advect additional moisture into the area as the tropical wave moves into the Bay of Honduras. Some cloudier spells with a few showers are likely overnight Monday through Tuesday as a result.
